Dr. Freeburg is licensed to practice Psychology in the State of California and is Board Certified in Forensic Psychology with the American Board of Forensic Psychology within the American Board of Professional Psychology. She has been working in the field of psychology since 2002. She a member of the National Register for Health Service Providers in Psychology (Number: 52929) and a panel member as a Qualified Medical Evaluator. Her background includes experience with the correctional systems within the State prison and county jail systems, as well as the forensic department of Metropolitan State Hospital; community mental health for Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services, North Los Angeles County Regional Center, Glen Roberts Child Study Center; panel membership for criminal and Workers' Compensation; and private treatment practice.
Within her private practice, since 2008, she has performed psychological evaluations in the areas of civil and criminal litigation, as well as Workers’ Compensation. Dr. Freeburg also consults with attorneys regarding the evaluation of potential or existing claims, examination of other psychological expert reports, and trial consultation. In civil litigation, she specializes in evaluation of allegations of emotional distress and psychological injury resulting from personal or work injuries with a particular interest in workplace harassment/discrimination and wrongful termination, as well as psych malpractice. Other areas of interest are as a subject matter expert for board cases for standard of practice issues in psychology.
Dr. Freeburg’s evaluations focus on assessing and integrating the totality of the evidence to formulate the most accurate and defensible psychological opinions. She believes that in any forensic evaluation the strongest and most accurate position is one where even the smallest details and nuances are not sacrificed to create an over-simplified picture that does not hold up to scrutiny. However, most important is being able to impart the information, regardless of the complexity, in such a way that the information is accessible to attorneys and their clients, the judge, and the jury.
In her private treatment practice, she utilizes individual and family therapy modalities for adults, adolescents, and children. Dr. Freeburg has experience with depression, anxiety, traumatic exposure, attentional difficulties, post-traumatic stress disorder, psychosis, and personality disorders and patterns, and sexual/physical abuse.
